DGCA Launches Upgraded Online Examination Portal for CPL and ATPL Candidates

DGCA unveils enhanced eGCA examination scheduling system, reducing exam result turnaround times to under 7 business days.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has rolled out a major digital upgrade to the eGCA examination portal, streamlining the scheduling, sitting, and result-processing mechanisms for Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory examinations across India.

Key Enhancements in the New Portal

  1. Faster Result Turnaround: Candidate test results will now be published within 5 to 7 business days of sitting the exam, down from the historical 3 to 4-week waiting period.
  2. Dynamic Slot Allocation: Pilot cadets can now choose exam slots across 14 computer-based test centres nationwide, including dedicated hubs in Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
  3. Integrated Licence Verification: Automatic synchronisation between exam results, Class 1 medical assessments, and final CPL application modules eliminates manual file transfers.

Impact on Pilot Training Timelines

This regulatory overhaul significantly reduces dead time for cadets pursuing their flying licences. Trainees who prepare thoroughly can now clear all required written papers—Air Navigation, Aviation Meteorology, Air Regulations, and Technical General—in consecutive examination sessions.
